BJP demands deployment of more central forces in UP

New Delhi: Fearing misuse of government machinery during the Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh, BJP on Wednesday met Election Commission and demanded deployment of more security forces in the state.

"We have demanded deployment of more para-military forces during the polling as the district administration is under pressure from the state government," BJP leader Laxmikant Vajpayee said after meeting EC officials here.
Vajpayee is BJP`s chief of the state.

A BJP delegation led by its vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi had also met the EC yesterday and demanded deployment of adequate central forces in UP districts fearing "massive rigging" by Congress and Samajwadi Party.

Voicing fears about booth capturing in UP, Naqvi had said, "It is a sensitive state and we are apprehending that both Congress and SP together are trying to do booth capturing in a big way in four constituencies -- Mainpuri, Etawah, Ferozabad and Kannauj".
"There are reports that SP along with Congress will try to instigate violence during polling in these four seats. Central forces should be adequately deployed in these areas," Naqvi said.

12 constituencies of UP are going to polls tomorrow.
The fourth phase of polling in UP will decide the fate of 187 candidates, including SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in Mainpuri, his daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav in Kannauj and External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid in Farrukhabad.
