HJC seeks expulsion of SAD from NDA for `open defiance`

Enraged over SAD`s "open campaigning" against BJP and its ally Haryana Janhit Congress in the state, HJC chief Kuldeep Bishnoi has asked BJP to severe its ties with the Punjab`s ruling party.

Chandigarh: Enraged over SAD`s "open campaigning" against BJP and its ally Haryana Janhit Congress in the state, HJC chief Kuldeep Bishnoi has asked BJP to severe its ties with the Punjab`s ruling party.

"Narendra Modi campaigned in Haryana and urged people to make NDA victorious and at the same time, Parkash Singh Badal sought votes to defeat the NDA. What should the voters do. This cannot be tolerated," according to a letter written by Bishnoi to senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani.

SAD chief and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Deputy Sukhbir Singh Badal had canvassed for the candidates of INLD in Haryana.
Bishnoi claimed that SAD leaders had violated the NDA`s alliance code by joining hands with INLD, whose senior leaders including former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala and Ajay Singh Chautala are behind the bars for over a year now in connection with a teachers recruitment scam.

While the Punjab Chief Minister had maintained that he had family relations with Chautala family and his campaign to seek votes for the INLD was in the knowledge of the senior BJP leadership, adding that the main motive of the campaign was to make Narendra Modi as the next prime minister.

"SAD should be thrown out of the NDA otherwise it will send a wrong message throughout the country that for vested political interests such people are in the NDA," Bishnoi said.
Bishnoi urged Advani to issue a show cause notice to the SAD seeking explanation as to why they should not be expelled from NDA.

He said SAD leaders had canvassed for candidates of the INLD at a time when BJP-led NDA`s nationwide campaign was centred around corruption.

Bishnoi, younger son of former Haryana Chief Minister late Bhajan Lal, was pitted against Chautala Sr`s grandson Dushyant Chautala, from Hisar Lok Sabha seat.

The HJC leader yesterday shot off a strongly-worded letter to Advani and sought action against Badals for "violating" NDA`s alliance code.

Polling for all the 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana was held on April 10. While Bishnoi is seeking re-election from Hisar, his party has fielded candidate from Sirsa constituency and the remaining eight seats were fought by the ally BJP.

"Though, it would already be within your knowledge, but I
deem it my moral and righteous duty to draw your attention to an important fact/development, which has not gone well with the constituents and supporters of NDA all around India," Bishnoi wrote to Advani in his letter raising strong objection against the SAD leaders seeking votes for INLD.

He wrote that SAD was seen openly campaigning against BJP as well the alliance partner HJC (BL) candidates.

"Their senior most leaders Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal were seen sharing stage with our staunch opponents--INLD candidates.

"As you are already aware that key INLD leaders are undergoing imprisonment for having been convicted for corruption. It is a matter of record that these (SAD) leaders went all around Haryana in the recent elections and opposed our (HJC-BJP alliance) candidates," he wrote.

He further said that "these acts are not only immoral and unethical, but also contrary to the whole premise of the ideology behind formation of NDA. The Akali Dal`s open opposition of BJP and HJC (BL) candidates in Haryana has portrayed NDA and all its partners in the bad light, especially BJP."
