I will not join BJP again, says Jaswant

Expelled BJP leader Jaswant Singh Friday ruled out the possibility of his rejoining the party even if it showed willingness to re-induct him.

New Delhi: Expelled BJP leader Jaswant Singh Friday ruled out the possibility of his rejoining the party even if it showed willingness to re-induct him.

Asked during a meet-the-press event here if he would consider an invitation to rejoin the Bharatiya Janata Party if the party so intended, Jaswant Singh said: "I will not join the BJP."

He said he was a "swatantra" or independent leader now, but was not contemplating forming any independent political party.

The former defence and external affairs minister said he might extend issue-based support to the National Democratic Alliance, but that support may as well go to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance or the Third Front.

"If I feel the agenda of the UPA or a Third Front is for the greater good of the country, I may support them," said Jaswant Singh, who was expelled from the BJP following his decision to contest the Lok Sabha election as an independent candidate from Barmer.
