Transit remand for arrested Naxal leader Beck

Sambu Beck, the arrested Naxal leader from Orissa, along with his accomplice was taken to his home state by Orissa police today on a transit remand.

state by Orissa police today on a transit remand.

25-year-old Beck, leading Maowadi Trishul Manch (MTM),
was arrested from Mapusa town, 10 kms away from here by state
police last week.

"While Beck and Rajendra are taken by Orissa police their
third accomplice, Anand is in local custody for further
interrogation," Superintendent of Police (ANC) Veenu Bansal
told reporters here.

His accomplice, Rajendra Barla, was also arrested during
the joint operation by anti narcotic cell and crime branch
which had zeroed in on Beck, wanted in several cases in
Orissa.

Orissa police had intimated state police about presence
of Beck in Goa.

The Naxal was wanted in several cases of armed dacoity,
robbery and kidnapping for ransom.

Police said Beck had fled the state after killing a local
liquor seller.

During the operation, 17 were arrested by police for
harbouring Beck. Except Rajendra and Anand, rest 15 were left
after initial investigation.
