1000 NRG delegates to attend Vishwa Gujarati Parishad

Over 1,000 non-resident Gujaratis (NRG) delegates from 20 countries will participate in a three-day Vishwa Gujarati Parishad (VGP) to be held from January 22 to 24 by Vishwa Gujarati Samaj (VGS) in the city.

Ahmedabad: Over 1,000 non-resident Gujaratis
(NRG) delegates from 20 countries will participate in a
three-day Vishwa Gujarati Parishad (VGP) to be held from
January 22 to 24 by Vishwa Gujarati Samaj (VGS) in the city.

The parishad is being organised to celebrate the golden
jubilee of Gujarat which was carved out from Mumbai state on
May 1, 1960.

"This three-day event is meant to bring non-resident
Gujaratis living across the globe on a common platform to
discuss various aspects of Gujarat and its culture," said
Krishnakant Vakharia, president of VGS.

He said the Parishad will hold discussions on aspects
related to the diaspora and their home state.

During the three-day conference, four eminent NRGs
Ukabhai Solanki from the US, Dr Gautam Bodiwalal from the UK,
Hemant Shah from Canada and J K Chandeni from Tanzania will be
felicitated, said Vakharia in a press conference here.

He said Gujaratis are found in almost all the countries
in the world and have earned a good name for themselves.

Vakharia said NRG community organisations will also
celebrate golden jubilee of the state in their respective
cities in May this year.
