According to police, voting at 208 polling stations was going on peacefully. There are over 1.65 lakh voters for the constituency.

The by-elections were necessitated due to death of sitting Congress MLA Gautam Zala.

BJP has fielded Kanu Dabhi against Congress`s Ghelabhai Zala.

The contest for the Kathlal seat became more competitive with Zala`s son Bharatsinh contesting as an independent candidate after being denied a ticket by the Congress party.
