Armed robber nabbed from Vadodara jewellery shop

One out of three armed thieves was caught as he ran out of a jewellery store in Gujarat`s Vadodara District. The shopkeeper`s son caught him.

Vadodara: One out of three armed thieves was caught as he ran out of a jewellery store in Gujarat`s Vadodara District. The shopkeeper`s son caught him.

The incident took place in broad daylight on Sunday even as customers were visiting the shop.

"One man walked into the shop pretending to be a customer at around 2.30-2.45 p.m. He was browsing through the jewellery and brandished a pistol all of a sudden. Two other people followed him inside the shop and took three men in the shop hostage. They robbed jewellery from the shop and were leaving when the shopkeeper`s son ran and got a hold of one of the thieves. He has been arrested," said Joint Commissioner of Police, Vadodara, DJ Patel.

Jewellery worth Rs five million was stolen and the whole incident was caught on tape.

The police have recovered two pistols, cash and jewellery from the arrested robber. A case has been registered and a manhunt for the other two thieves is on.
