Court permits Bajrangi to go out of Gujarat for treatment

The special trial court hearing the 2002 Naroda Gam riot case on Tuesday granted permission to Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Babu Bajrangi to leave the state and go to Gurgaon for medical treatment between June 2 to 8.

Ahmedabad: The special trial court hearing the 2002 Naroda Gam riot case on Tuesday granted permission to Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Babu Bajrangi to leave the state and go to Gurgaon for medical treatment between June 2 to 8.

Judge P B Desai passed the order.

Bajrangi had applied to the court on April 30 through his lawyer Chetan Shah for permission to go outside Gujarat as he wanted to get treatment at a private hospital in Gurgaon for his acute diabetes.

He is one of the 83 accused in Naroda Gam riot case. Eleven persons of the minority community were killed in the riot in Naroda Gam on February 28, 2002, during post-Godhra riots in Gujarat.

He has been sentenced to life in Naroda Patiya riot case.

He is out of jail since April 24 this year after the Gujarat High court granted him bail for 90 days for eye treatment.
