Ahmedabad: Asking Narendra Modi to be ready
to assume a larger role at the national level, senior BJP
leader Venkaiah Naidu on Monday said that the Gujarat Chief
Minister was definitely a prime minister material.

Speaking here on the last day of the Sadbhavana fast,
Naidu said Modi should be ready "to serve the nation".

"There is a lot of discussion as to whether Modi is a
prime ministerial candidate. Is there any doubt if he can be a
PM? He has all attributes," he said.

Naidu said there was no red-tape in Gujarat and people
were happy to invest here, unlike (Congress-ruled) Andhra
Pradesh. Modi was a dynamic leader with a character,
capability and calibre, he said.

On post-Godhra riots, Naidu said, "Congress does not want
to forget the incident and move forward. Every time they keep
reciting Godhra… Godhra..." He challenged Congress to clear
its name in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj
said Modi had passed `test by fire` (Agni-pariksha), with the
Supreme Court`s latest ruling in Gulbarg Society case coming
in his favour.
