Additional DGP (Law and Order) S K Sinha took charge as the city police commissioner replacing Amitabh Pathak.

Ahmedabad: Additional DGP (Law and Order)
S K Sinha on Wednesday took charge as the city police commissioner
replacing Amitabh Pathak.

Sinha, a 1976 batch IPS officer, took charge from
Pathak today. Pathak will be ADGP (Police Reforms).

After taking over Sinha hailed Lokpal Bill saying it
could become the fifth pillar of democracy after the
legislature, executive, judiciary and media.
"The legislature, executive and judiciary form the
three pillars of democracy. The fourth pillar is considered to
be the media," Sinha said.

I believe that if empowered, the Lokpal could become
the fifth pillar of democracy, he said, adding that it would
play an important role against corruption.
Sinha said preventing any kind of terror-related
activities in the city and curbing economic offences are his
top priorities after slipping into the shoes of police
commissioner.

"My priority will be to take preventive action to
detect any terror related activities and make the city safe
from terror attacks. Other priority would be to curb rising
economic-related offences like fake companies and land mafia
related cases," he said.

The top cop also said that common people could meet
him everyday and can also contact him on his mobile phone from
7 pm to 10 pm.
