A senior police officer supervising the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case was called by the CBI to submit documents, an official in the investigating agency said here today.

Ahmedabad: A senior police officer
supervising the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case was
called by the CBI to submit documents, an official in the
investigating agency said here today.

Additional Director General of Police and Rajkot Police
commissioner Geetha Johri was the supervising officer in the
Sohrabuddin case and disappearance of his wife Kausarbi.

"Johri was called in and asked to submit the document in
connection with the case. She was not called in for
questioning as part of investigation in the case," the
official said.

Following investigation led by Johri, 14 policemen,
including three IPS officers were put behind bars for their
alleged role in the killing of Sohrabuddin in November 2005.
They include suspended IPS officers D G Vanzara, Rajkumar
Pandian and Dinesh M N.

The Supreme Court had ordered CBI probe into the fake
encounter of Sohrabuddin, his wife Kauserbi and an informer
Tulsiram Prajapati after it came to conclusion that the
Gujarat police did not investigate the case in proper manner.

The apex Court had observed, while ordering CBI probe
that Gujarat police had deliberately attempted to mislead the
court by filing false Action Taken Reports (ATRs).

It had also severely criticised Johri who was leading
the investigation into the fake encounter.
