Vadodara: The completion of 'Sudama Setu' (bridge) over Gomti river is expected to ease the commuting troubles of devotees going to Dwarka, where one of the famous temples of Lord Krishna is situated.

The 116-meter-long bridge will be opened soon for public, Rajya Sabha member and vice chairman of Dwarkadheesh Devsthan Samiti Parimal Nathwani told PTI.

"The bridge will become an added attraction for devotees and tourists as it will be illuminated with LED lights and will connect the Shri Dhwarkadheesh's Jagat Mandir with Panchnad Tirth (Panch Kui)," he said.

Presently, the pilgrims have to use boats to cross the Gomti river and reach the shrines.

Sudama Setu is being constructed under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) of a leading private company with Gujarat Tourism Department and Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of Janmashtami, over 2 lakh devotees yesterday visited the Lord Krishna temple in Dwarka where the festival was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety.
