Bhiwani: A father who failed to
allegedly rape his teenaged daughter, today stabbed her to
death at Satnali near here, following which he was arrested
and a case registered against him, police said.
The victim, who was Verender`s elder daughter, was alone
in her house when the accused attempted to rape her at Satnali
under Loharu sub division in the district, they said.
When she protested, he allegedly attacked her with an axe.
The victim`s mother Savita rushed to the room on hearing
cries and tried to save her daughter, but Verender attacked
her also.
The teenager, who sustained serious injuries on head, neck
and hands, died on the spot, while Savita was seriously
injured, police said.
They said that the accused, who was naked and holding an
axe went to a nearby bus stand and attacked a local resident,
who was sitting at a medical store.
The accused, later attacked two other persons, injuring
one of them.
He then went to a police station and surrendered.
Police said that Verender had been sexually harassing his
daughter for quite some time and when Savita came to know
about this, he sent her daughter to her maternal house.
The victim had returned to her home at Satnali on Sunday.
Satnali police station incharge Dharmpal Yadav said the
accused had been arrested and a case under various relevant
sections of the IPC had been registered against him.
The victim`s body has been sent for postmortem
examination.
