At least 53,000 enumerators for census operation in Haryana

Around 53,000 enumerators and supervisors have been appointed to do field operations for the first phase of Census operation in Haryana, a senior official said Friday.

Chandigarh: Around 53,000 enumerators and supervisors have been appointed to do field operations for the first phase of Census operation in Haryana, a senior official
said Friday.

Describing Census as the biggest administrative exercise
which is not only a head count of population but also complete
process of collection, compilation, tabulation and analysis of
data, Haryana Census Operations Director Neerja Sekhar said
country`s demographic, economic and social data is published
on its basis.

She asked the residents of Haryana to assist the
collection of data by providing correct information to the
enumerators, who would visit their houses from May one.

Census will be conducted in two phases. The work of first
phase that is House Listing and Housing Census along with
preparation of National Population Register (NPR) of all
residents of India will start in Haryana from May one, 2010
and continue upto June 15, 2010.

The second phase that is Population Enumeration will be
conducted from February 9 to February 28, 2011, with a
revision round from March 1 to 5, 2011.
Census 2011 would be 15th in India since 1872, seventh
since Independence and fifth since formation of Haryana.
