Child marriage stopped in Haryana

Timely intervention of officials of Child Marriage Prohibition Office (CMPO) in the district on Sunday led to stopping of a marriage of a minor girl in Egrah village here, officials said.

Jind: Timely intervention of officials of Child Marriage Prohibition Office (CMPO) in the district on Sunday led to stopping of a marriage of a minor girl in Egrah village here, officials said.

Acting on a tip off, a team of CMPO officials, comprising Assistant Officer Ravi Lohan, Assistant Inspector Bal Kishan, ASI Ramesh Kumar and woman head constable Sudesh Kumari, reached Egrah village and asked proof of the girl's age.

When the family persons could not provide them the proof of the girl's age, the officials warned them not to proceed with the marriage of the minor, they said.
