`Eight deaths, 967 swine flu cases in Haryana so far`

Eight persons have died due to swine flu in Haryana so far, while 967 tested positive, state Health Minister Geeta Bhukkal said Friday.

Health Minister Geeta Bhukkal said Friday.

A total of 1,924 suspected cases of swine flu have so far
been tested and screened. Out of the total positive cases, 513
belong to Gurgaon district.

Eight deaths have been reported so far in the state due
to H1N1 virus, which includes one in district Gurgaon on
August 20, two in district Faridabad on August 26 and
September 11, one in district Ambala on September 28, one in
district Jhajjar on October 20, one in Karnal on October 30,
one in district Panipat on November 5 and one in Panchkula on
November 9.

The Health Department is making efforts to combat swine
flu, an official release here quoting Bhukkal said.
She said that a close vigil on patients reporting with
swine flu symptoms is being kept and surveillance activities
intensified in the districts.

The minister also said that Directors and Principals of
PGIMS Rohtak, Medical College, Mullana and Medical College,
Agroha have been asked to upgrade their laboratories for
testing of swine flu.
