Festival of Jains: Appeal to slaughter houses to remain shut from Sep 11-19

 The BJP Government in Haryana has asked the concerned officers to appeal to slaughter house owners in the state to remain closed from September 11 to 19 in view of "Paryushan Parv" which is celebrated by the Jain community.

Chandigarh: The BJP Government in Haryana has asked the concerned officers to appeal to slaughter house owners in the state to remain closed from September 11 to 19 in view of "Paryushan Parv" which is celebrated by the Jain community.

Stating this here today, Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain said that the nine-day annual festival of "Paryushan Parv" is celebrated by Jain community for "self purification".

She said that Commissioners of Municipal Corporations, Deputy Commissioners, executive officers of Municipal Councils and Municipalities have been asked to appeal to the owners of slaughter houses not to slaughter animals during the festival.

Kavita Jain, according to an official release here, said that the representatives of Jain community had met her and urged her to ban slaughter of animals during the festival.

She further said that this is festival is of non-violence and friendship, which brings peace in the society.

"Issues like violence, terrorism, hatred, corruption are not only of immense concern in the country but also around the world.

"Everybody wants solution to these problems which could be found in Paryushan Parv by following non-violence," she added.
