New Delhi: A sitting Congress MLA of Haryana and a prosecution witness in a disproportionate assets case, allegedly involving INLD chief OP Chautala's son Abhay, today moved a Delhi court seeking security for himself and his family for allegedly being threatened by the accused.
The court sought a response of Abhay Chautala on the plea filed by witness Karan Singh Dalal who represents Palwal in Haryana assembly.
Following Dalal's allegations, the prosecutor submitted before Special CBI Judge Sanjay Garg that under these circumstances, the "bail of the accused be cancelled".
The witness, in his application, sought the court to provide security to him and his family members alleging that they were being threatened by the accused and his family members.
The court fixed the case for May 22 for arguments on the plea of Dalal and also recording prosecution evidence in the case.
During the day, the court recorded the statement of Dalal, who was 106th prosecution witness in the case, in which he identified signatures of several persons on a memorandum given to the then Governor of Haryana.
He said the copy of the memorandum was sent to various persons, including the President, the Prime Minister, Sonia Gandhi, the CBI Director, the then Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the then BJP President L K Advani and media houses.
"This information was regarding the assets and incomes earned by Om Prakash Chautala, the then CM Haryana, and his family members, that is, Abhay Singh Chautala and Ajay Singh Chautala by illegal means.
"I had furnished the details of the assets amassed by Om Prakash Chautala, Abhay Singh Chautala and Ajay Singh Chautala by illegal means," Dalal said in his deposition.
His statement remained inconclusive and would continue on May 22.
