Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Thursday announced the setting up of a commission that will look into factors responsible for decline in farm income and other problems faced by farmers.
Hooda said the farmers` commission would analyse the factors responsible for decline in farm income and suggest measures to enhance income of the farmers through market driven crop diversification, hassle-free regulator and fiscal regime, value addition and agro-processing.
He said the commission would also suggest a viable and compatible crop, livestock-fish integrated system and a synergy among agriculture allied sectors.
The commission will be headed by eminent agriculture research scientist, R.S. Paroda, a recipient of the Padma Bhushan and Norman E. Borloug awards.
Senior bureaucrats, vice chancellor of the Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) at Hisar and other non-official members will be part of the commission, which will be headquartered at the HAU campus in Hisar.
The commission will also examine the current input use efficiency and functioning of delivery system for seeds, fertilisers, pesticides. It will also suggest new agri-research projects.
