During a Khap Mahapanchayat today in Dhanana village here, chief of the Khap of Jats, Rajmal said that BJP had promised to accept recommendations of Swaminathan Commission report on agriculture in its election manifesto and now when it is in power, it must accept the demand.

They threatened to launch an agitation from March 5 if recommendations are not implemented.

"The government has time till March 4 to implement the recommendations of the Commission. If not done, a grand rally will be launched in Peepli village here on March 5," Rajmal said.

Underlining the issue of crop destruction by stray animals, he said the government must send them to animal shelters otherwise these stray animals will be unchained in all district government offices.

The meeting held here was attended by more than 50 khaps across the state and representatives of farmer unions.

Crop destruction by stray animals, scarcity of quality manure and seeds were among other issues raised by farmers.
