Gurgaon: Congress MP Rao Inderjit Singh on Saturday denied having any "practical relationship" with Rao
Dheeraj Singh, the former associate of controversial corporate
lobbyist Nira Radia, saying he was not in touch with him for
two decades.
"I have nothing to do with the activities and actions
of Rao Dheeraj Singh as I have not had any practical
relationship or spoken to him for the last two decades, the MP
from Gurgaon constituency said to a news agency.
Rao Dheeraj Singh, a former associate of Radia, had
levelled allegations against senior BJP leader L K Advani,
party president Nitin Gadkari and general secretary Ananth
Kumar of favouring the corporate lobbyist.
In turn, the party alleged that Singh "curiously
happens to be very closely related to a very senior Congress
politician".
The Gurgaon MP and union minister of state is the son
of Rao Birender Singh, former Haryana chief minister and a
Union Cabinet Minister during Indira Gandhi`s regime.
He said Singh was not from the immediate family but "a
relative by virtue of being the son of a deceased cousin."
When Rao Dheeraj Singh was contacted for his comments,
he confirmed that he was a distant relative of the Gurgaon MP.
"Rao Inderjit Singh had spoken to me last time during
my college days, around year 1993-94," told PTI from Nanital.
He further said his family had severed relations with
him when he developed relations with Radia. He was running his
separate business now.
