Jammu: Heavy shelling from the other side of the border is on in the Line of Control (LoC) area and some nearby sector for the past few hours.
Exchange of fire is currently underway in the 190 km area which is said to be very sensitive.
According to the latest report, some terrorists hurled a grenade at a police post in Handwara district in Jammu and Kashmir this evening.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who is constantly monitoring the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, ordered Border Security Force (BSF) to take appropriate action and give a befitting reply to firing by Pakistan on Indian posts.
"There's heavy shelling from Pakistan side. We are ready but don't want any casualties. We have asked locals to stay indoors," SHO Mohd Younis Choudhary said.
However, no casualties were reported so far.
"This has never happened before. Such heavy firing has been taking place from Pakistan's side. Most of the people have left the village. Everyone is so scared," one of the locals from Rajouri told ANI.

The development comes after Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) earlier today announced that Pakistan High Commission staffer Mehmood Akhtar has been asked to leave India along with his family within 48 hours.
Akhtar and three Pakistani spies were today detained by the Delhi and Rajasthan Police in separate incidents for their involvement in espionage activities.
While all the spies arrested were brought to Delhi from Rajasthan, Akhtar was later let off by the police.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Vikas Swarup said that while Akhtar was declared persona non grata by India, he along with his family will have to leave the country within next two days.
Swarup added that Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar asked Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit to restrain Commissioner's staffer from indulging in anti-India activities.
