Dharamsala: Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, has concluded his two-day teaching retreat at Dharamsala, during which he delivered sermons on the teachings of Lord Buddha to his followers, including hundreds of foreigners at the prominent Tibetan temple of Tsuglagkhang.
A group of Mongolian Buddhists had asked for this special retreat to be conducted.
Lobsang, a Tibetan youth, said: "His main message is whether you are religious or not, whether you follow any religion or not, we must have a very kind and compassionate heart, which is like a universal religion. This is what he is saying and everybody should practice love and compassion."
About 1000 Mongolian Buddhists attended the sermon sessions.
The congregation also included devotes and followers from other countries such as the United States, Vietnam, Australia, Korea, Italy and Germany.
The Dalai Lama, who fled to India in 1959 following a failed uprising, has accused China of `cultural genocide`.
However, Beijing considers him a separatist and does not trust his insistence that he only wants greater autonomy for his Himalayan homeland.
On his part, the Dalai Lama denies he is a separatist and says he only wants meaningful autonomy for his Himalayan region.
