Most of the examination centres in private schools were closed down by the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board following complaints of cheating during board exams.

Dharamshala: Most of the examination centres
in private schools were closed down by the Himachal Pradesh
School Education Board (HPSEB) following complaints of
cheating during board exams.

Only 19 out of the 43 private schools were allowed to
conduct board exams starting from March 4th, HPSEB Chairman VC
Farraka said, adding, this year the number of examination
centres has been reduced to 1589 from last year`s 1690.

More than 200 centres have been identified as sensitive
and as many as 255 flying squads have been formed to check
cheating during the exams, Farraka said, adding police is also
co-operating with the board.

Around 210 students last year passed board exams without
appearing for them and more than 80 arrests were made in this
connection so this year the board was more vigilant, he said.

The official informed that this year 1,32,271 students
are appearing for the 10th, 1,20,527 for 11th and 1,00,262 for
12th board exams. Private candidate can only appear in the
centre allotted to them, he said.
