Several areas of Himachal Pradesh were on Thursday lashed by heavy rains with the mercury dropping by few notches in the hilly state.

Precipitation occurred at many places and Una was the wettest place in the state with 96 mm rains while Dharamsala, Kasalui and Bangana had 65 mm, 55 mm and 48 mm of rains respectively, local MeT office said.

Berthin in Bilaspur received 35 mm rains followed by Nahan 32 mm, Paonta Sahib 28 mm, Amb 25 mm, Nurpur 24 mm, Bilaspur 18 mm, Nadaun and Jubbal 17 mm, Sangrah and Arki 16 mm and Guler 12 mm respectively.

The mercury dropped by few notches to stay at 32.6 degree Celsius at Una which was hottest in the region while Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded a high of 31.5 degree and 30.0 degree Celsius, followed by Dharamshala 28.2 deg, Solan 28.5 deg, Nahan 26.8 deg, Shimla 23.1 deg and Kalpa 21.4 deg respectively.

However, the minimum temperatures dropped by two to three degrees and Kalpa was the coldest in the region with a low of 13.6 deg while Keylong and Manali recorded minimum temperatures at 14.6 deg and 15.0 deg Celsius.

The local MeT office has predicted rains and thunderstorms at many places in the state during the next six days.
