HP Cong seeks CBI probe into call girls scandal

Shimla: The Congress in Himachal Pradesh
on Thursday demanded a CBI inquiry into call girls scandal allegedly
involving a minister, a BJP leader and an official.

Alleging that state government was trying to `play down`
the event, as reports suggest that a minister, former chairman
of state media advisory committee and an official were
involved in this act early this month, state Congress chief
Kaul Singh Thakur demanded a CBI probe into it.
"The matter is serious and involves powerful people in
the state government. Hence, it shall be probed by the CBI,"
Thakur told reporters here.

Rajendra Rana, a close confidante of Chief Minister
Prem Kumar Dhumal and state Media advisory Committee chairman,
tendered his resignation last week after his name cropped up
in the scandal.

He also mentioned about a notice issued by HP High Court
against Kishan Kapoor early this week in connection with
allotment of a piece of land in favour of himself and other
relatives, when he was the Urban Development Minister last
year.
Kapoor is now the Himachal Industries minister.
