Single window authority clears six projects in HP

The Himachal Pradesh Single Window Clearance and Monitoring Authority cleared six projects including one new and five expansion projects.

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Single Window
Clearance and Monitoring Authority (SMSWC and MA) on Saturday
cleared six projects including one new and five expansion
projects providing employment to 338 youth.

Presiding over the meeting of SMSWC and MA, Chief
Minister P K Dhumal said that inspite of withdrawal of
concessions and exemptions under the Central Industrial
package, Himachal was one of the choicest destination for
investors.

He said although the state government was adopting an open
door policy but it was being very selective in allowing new
industries. Only environment-friendly, non-polluting and
labour-intensive units based on local raw materials are being
encouraged.

Dhumal said that employment generation was main objective
of industrialisation and the government had made it
mandatory for industrial and hydropower projects to employ at
least 70 Himachalis in their projects.

This condition was being strictly implemented and the
officials of labour and industries department are ensuring
that 70 per cent of work force was Himachali, he added.

He directed authorities to ensure that all industrial
proposals were scrutinised closely before presenting them
before the SMSWC and MA. Need-based allocation of land, water
and electricity should also be ensured to the prospective
entrepreneurs, he added.
