Winter session of Himachal Assembly to be held in December

A longer winter session of Himachal Pradesh Assembly will be held in December in Dharamsala.

Shimla: A longer winter session of Himachal Pradesh Assembly will be held in December in Dharamsala.

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Sunday said that during the winter session the House would complete the agenda of the monsoon session and take up other important issues.

The dates of the session would be decided soon and there would be no special session of the assembly ahead of the winter session, he added.

The duration of winter session in Dharamsala used to be of five to six days but several important issues like the Lokayukta Bill, Town and Planning (amendment) Bill and sports bill are pending and these issues are likely to be taken up during the session.

The monsoon session of the assembly scheduled from August 6 to August 29 with fourteen sittings was curtailed as the assembly was adjourned sine die due to non-cooperation of opposition BJP and only six sittings were held and major agenda could not be taken up, according to a release.

The chief minister had blamed the BJP for adjournment of the assembly and said that the opposition did not allow the House to run smoothly.
