Advocate Abha Singh 'shocked' after Thane rape accused threatens to repeat act

Senior advocate Abha Singh on Sunday expressed her shock after a rape accused, currently out on bail in Thane, threatened to 'repeat' the act.

Mumbai: Senior advocate Abha Singh on Sunday expressed her shock after a rape accused, currently out on bail in Thane, threatened to 'repeat' the act.

Terming it 'shameful', Singh said that the law and order has broken down in Thane

"It is very shameful and very shocking that a rape accused has been threatening a rape victim and it shows that the law and order of Thane has totally broken down," Abha Singh told ANI here.

"The police of that area needs to be suspended for not ensuring that these criminals are put behind bars and the police in Thane have still not moved for the cancellation of the bail," she added.

Singh asserted that such cases are purposely weakened so that the bail is granted immediately to the accused.

In July 2014, a 13-year-old girl was gang-raped. The victim's family has alleged that one of the accused, who is currently out on bail, has threatened the girl with rape again.

According to reports, when the victim's family did not receive any help from the police , the mother decided to tonsure her daughter's head in order to conceal her identity.
