New Delhi: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) is reportedly considering a fresh set of guidelines for TV coverage of terrorist attacks.

In a social media post, Union Minister of State for I&B Rajyavardhan Rathore said, “Media should refrain from identifying nationalities and identities of probable hostages for their safety.”

He made the remarks after the deadly Dhaka terror attack in which 20 people, including an Indian girl, was killed.

According to sources, the ministry has already informally sensitised the broadcast associations about the security situation which could potentially impact national interest.

The sources said that it is a complex procedure and guidelines would cover local as well as international news agencies.
