AIFMGA alleges corruption in medical graduates' screening test

The All India Foreign Medical Graduates Association (AIFMGA) on Wednesday demanded for more "transparency" in the Foreign medical graduates examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).

New Delhi: The All India Foreign Medical Graduates Association (AIFMGA) on Wednesday demanded for more "transparency" in the Foreign medical graduates examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).

Doctors under the banner of AIFMGA demonstrated in front of the Union Health Ministry at Nirman Bhavan to press for their demands.

"For the doctors who have graduated from countries like Russia, Nepal, Ukraine and others...There is a rule in India that whenever a degree is obtained from abroad, they are supposed to give MCI screening test which is conducted by NBE. The screening test is only to verify knowledge and not a competitive exam," AIFMGA president A Najeerul Ameen told PTI.

"In the name of screening test, the team of NBE indulge in corruption. There is no transparency. We demand a CBI enquiry into the issue," he said, adding that around 18,000 such doctors are being affected.

A five-member AIFMGA delegation later met senior officials of the Health Ministry.

An AIFMGA statement said that the Ministry has given an assurance to bring in transparency.
