Cautioning people against forces inimical to peace, Jammu and Kashmir deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh today said that attempts were being made to drive a communal wedge between various communities in the state.

Kathua: Cautioning people against forces inimical to peace, Jammu and Kashmir deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh today said that attempts were being made to drive a communal wedge between various communities in the state.

"The people of Jammu and Kashmir have maintained the age-old amity among diverse communities despite attempts by elements inimical to peace to create communal wedge between various communities," Singh said while addressing a public meeting in the Hiranagar sector in this district.

He said that the people of the state should maintain vigil against the forces hell bent to disrupt peace and harmony.

Singh said that the PDP-BJP alliance was marching ahead with an agenda to bring the state on development path by devising schemes and programmes for all sections of society.

He said that the present dispensation has initiated developmental projects to meet the aspirations and expectations of the people.

"Several landmark decisions like setting up of medical colleges, engineering colleges, universities, AIIMS, IIT, IIM and IIMC besides other infrastructure for bringing a quality change in the lives of the people have been taken," he said.

Singh said that the government was moving ahead with a vision to bring the state on the world tourism map.
