Bangladeshi held for helping people enter India illegally

A Bangladesh national who allegedly facilitated illegal entry of people into India through the Indo-Bangladesh border has been arrested here.

Ghaziabad: A Bangladesh national who allegedly facilitated illegal entry of people into India through the Indo-Bangladesh border has been arrested here.

Upon secret inputs provided by the Local Intelligence Unit, Indirapuram Police launched a cordon and search operation and arrested 50-year-old Abdul Barikh, a resident of Khulna district in Bangladesh, city SP Shiv Hari Meena told the media here on Saturday.

An Indian election photo identification card, driving license, Aadhar card, Bangladeshi passport and currency were seized from him, Meena said.

Since 1981, he frequently visited India and facilitated human trafficking through Indo-Bangladesh borders, he said.

He had procured the voter ID card in Okhla Assembly constituency by making a payment of Rs 2,500.

The driving licence had been issued on an address in Kasturba Nagar, Delhi.

Police are investigating how he procured these documents, Meena added.
