BJP targets Sonia Gandhi for 'misquoting' facts over Congress states' woes

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday termed Congress president Sonia Gandhi's accusation of the Centre being biased against Congress-ruled states as 'appalling', and alleged that she was 'misquoting' facts.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday termed Congress president Sonia Gandhi's accusation of the Centre being biased against Congress-ruled states as 'appalling', and alleged that she was 'misquoting' facts.

"Sonia ji, Rahul ji and Manmohan ji had a meeting with chief ministers of Congress-ruled states and certain 'mis-facts' were placed in the public domain, saying that they are not receiving money from the Centre. This is absolutely appalling and a misquoting of facts. Rs 1.4 lakh crores extra is being received by each of the states after the acceptance of 14th finance commission report," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told ANI.

"Sonia Gandhi saying that they need to learn marketing and they need to communicate with people, I believe that more than marketing and communication, they need to do away with corruption, learn to work for the people, then the work speaks for itself," he added.

Sonia had earlier on Tuesday met chief ministers of Congress-ruled states and accused the NDA regime of deliberately bypassing Parliament, issuing threats to civil society and warnings to the judiciary to dismantle the edifice of the welfare state built up over the decades by successive Congress governments.

Gandhi had further said that as Congressmen it was important for the state chiefs to confront the ruling government at the Centre and agitate when it works against the public interest.
