BSF to hoist tallest national flag at Attari-Wagah border, will be visible from Lahore!

New Delhi: In a bid to add to the grandeur of the Retreat Ceremony held at Attari-Wagah Joint Check Post (JCP), the Border Security Force (BSF) is all set to hoist country's tallest and biggest national flag near the border post between India and Pakistan.

At 350-feet, the flag – which will also be the largest ever tricolour – will be visible from Pakistan's largest city Lahore, 18 Amritsar.

The Indian Express quotes a senior BSF official as saying that the flag will act as a beacon for patriotic Indians who arrive at the border to witness the retreat ceremony, jointly conducted by the BSF and Pakistan Rangers.

The project is part of the BSF's expansion plans for the visitor’s gallery. With a capacity of just 7000 seats, the gallery is currently not able to accommodate the massive flow of tourists.

After the expansion, the gallery will be able to accommodate 20,000 people. The BSF is also planning to make seats available online, reports added.

Currently, the largest national flag is in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The 293-feet high flag was hoisted by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in January this year.
