CBI arrests two officials of Rural Development Ministry in bribery case

The CBI on Tuesday arrested a Deputy Secretary and a Section Officer, both working in the Ministry of Rural Development in the national capital in a bribery case.

Delhi: The CBI on Tuesday arrested a Deputy Secretary and a Section Officer, both working in the Ministry of Rural Development in the national capital in a bribery case.

A case was registered against them under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act,1988 on allegations that Section Officer was demanding bribe of Rs 68,000 for clearing bills worth Rs 6.8 lakhs (approximately) of complainant who was supplying cars on rent to the Ministry, as per ANI.

CBI had laid a trap and caught the Section Officer red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 45,000 from the complainant.

Reports also said that after the recovery of bribe amount and subsequent investigation, a Deputy Secretary was also arrested in the bribery case.

Both the accused will be produced tomorrow before the Designated Court at Delhi.
