Jammu: The Centre on Wednesday said infiltration from across the border has come down as compared to previous years while there has been an increase in the number of militants killed by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters here, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also said that Pakistan has been given befitting reply by India whenever it has resorted to ceasefire violation.

"Our security forces are there in the Valley to deal with them (militants) but I want to tell you that infiltration (from across the border) has come down as compared to previous years," the minister said.

He further said that more terrorists have been killed by the security forces this year as compared to previous years.

"More area commanders of Lashkar-e-Toiba and other terrorist outfits have been killed this year. We will never compromise with the security of the country," he said.

On ceasefire violations from across the border, Singh said, "Though we want to have cordial relationship with Pakistan, there is a limit to everything. Tolerance has its limits."
