New Delhi: Durga Shakti Nagpal, the 2010 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, has been granted central deputation and appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh.

Nagpal has been appointed OSD to Singh on the initiative of the minister himself. Late last year, the minister had sought cadre and vigilance clearances for Nagpal's appointment. The Uttar Pradesh government was also approached for clearance as the officer was earlier posted in the state cadre.

The Agriculture Minister was reportedly impressed by the IAS officer's track record and efficiency.

Nagpal first hit headlines in July 2013 when she took on the sand mining mafia in UP and was later suspended from service. Nagpal was SDM of Gautam Buddha Nagar when she was suspended by the state government for demolishing an illegally-built wall of a mosque.

However, in September that year her suspension was withdrawn and she was reinstated by the state government.

Last year, the UP government suspended Nagpal's husband Abhishek Singh, also an IAS officer, for allegedly treating a Dalit teacher in Mathura district in an "inhuman" manner.
