Incentive for inter-caste marriage increased: Haryana govt

Incentive has been increased for inter-caste marriage from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,01,000, the Haryana government said on Sunday.

Chandigarh: Incentive has been increased for inter-caste marriage from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,01,000, the Haryana government said on Sunday.

Now, a grant of Rs 1,01,000 would be given to a Scheduled Caste boy or a girl of Haryana who marries a non-Scheduled Caste girl or boy under 'Mukhyamantri Samajik Samrasta Antarjatiya Vivah Shagun Yojana', Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Minister Krishan Kumar said.

Apart from this, the grant for girls belonging to SC, denotified tribes and widows of all sections of the society living below poverty line has been increased from Rs 31,000 to Rs 41,000, he said.

Kumar said Rs 11,000 will now be paid to all families who have land holdings of less than 2.5 acre or income less than Rs 1 lakh per annum.
