Karnataka CM wants time limit for use of old currency for exempted categories be extended till Dec 30

New Delhi: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley seeking new measures to reduce inconvenience caused to the public on account of the demonetisation drive.

Among his demands is that the time limit for use of old currency for exempted categories of payments may be extended till December 30.

The Karnataka CM also wants private hospitals, diagnostic labs, blood banks to be included in the exempted list.

The cash crunch in the cooperative sector is also an area of concern for the CM.

“Request you to direct the concerned to increase cash supply to the cooperative banking sector as per their requirement,” he wrote in his letter to the FM.

Siddaramaiah is not the only CM to have raised such demands. Many leaders from the Opposition have been demanding that private hospitals be allowed to accept old notes, however, the Modi government is yet to respond favourably on the matter.
