New Delhi: Taking a dig at the Narendra Modi government over its policy towards Pakistan, Congress leader Salman Khurshid, Thursday, said that the recent ceasefire violations will be a clear message to the government that dealing with Islamabad will not be a simple affair.

“It's not that it (ceasefire violations) did not occur during our time but we used to tried to control it in one way or the other,” Khurshid said.

“The manner in which this government assumed that the relation with Pakistan can be resolved over night is very short sighted,” he added.

Referring to the UPA government tenure, he said, “Whenever we were trying to do whatever we did, we were being drawn and pulled back by BJP by its criticism. I hope this (ceasefire violations by Pak) will be a clear message to BJP that dealing with Pak is not a simple affair,”

“It's not a matter of smiling, shaking hands & hoping things will be resolved,” he said.
