Must watch — Respect our national flag, don't buy if you cannot handle it

New Delhi: Come August 15, the India's Independence Day, and majority of us will be seen riding on the waves of patriotism.

And why not? Aren’t we patriotic? Every corner, every crossroad, every shop, and every car will be seen sporting the Indian tricolor - The symbol of our sovereignty. The spirit of a true Indian.

However, a day later, i.e. on August 16th, our much patriotism, devotion simply fades away and we, unceremoniously dump the same national flag to the dustbin or on the roads or gutter, to be trampled upon by other patriot pavillions. 16th, our much patriotism, devotion simply fades away and we, unceremoniously dump the same national flag to the dustbin or on the roads or gutter, to be trampled upon by other patriot pavillions.

Official regulation states that that the flag must at all times be treated with 'dignity, loyalty and respect', the flag must never touch the ground or water, be used as a tablecloth or draped in front of a platform, cover a statue, plaque, cornerstone etc.

Showing patriotism on a single day by buying Indian flags and flauting it on cars and at home are not enough. Our Indian flag is a symbol of national respect and pride. It needs to be respected throughout the year, every day and every moment.

Zee Group requests everybody to not throw our Indian national flags in dustbins. Our national flag deserves a much better treatment. And if we don’t respect it, who will?
