Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday condoled the loss of lives in the bus accident at Naubise in Nepal.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday condoled the loss of lives in the bus accident at Naubise in Nepal.

Prime Minister Modi took to Twitter for sharing his thoughts.

"Very saddening news from Nepal. My thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives in the bus accident at Neubise," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.

"A Team from our Embassy in Nepal reached the spot within an hour of the accident to oversee rescue and relief operations. Embassy officials are present at every hospital where the injured are being treated and Embassy is taking care of the treatment," he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's message comes after a bus plunged off a mountain highway at Naubise today, killing at least 17 Indian pilgrims and injuring 27 others.

According to reports, the bus fell about 1,000 feet before it slammed into trees at the bottom of a hill.

The bus was carrying Hindu pilgrims from Gujarat on a visit to the Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu.
