PM Modi extends birthday wishes to Mukul Sangma

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended birthday wishes to Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended birthday wishes to Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.

Prime Minister Modi took to Twitter to extend his wishes.

"Wishing my friend and Meghalaya CM Shri Mukul Sangma on his birthday. May Almighty bless him with good health and a long life," the Prime Minister said.

Sangma joined politics in 1993, when he was elected to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly from Ampatigiri constituency as an independent candidate.

He was re-elected to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly from Ampatigiri constituency in 1998, 2003 and 2008 as an Indian National Congress candidate.

On 13 May 2009, he became the deputy chief minister of the Indian National Congress-led Meghalaya United Alliance (MUA) government in Meghalaya led by Chief Minister DD Lapang.

After DD Lapang resigned on 19 April 2010, he assumed charge as the Chief Minister ofMeghalaya on 20 April 2010.
