PM Modi's Bangladesh visit the 'second foundation stone of two nations': BJP

Dhaka: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s maiden visit to Bangladesh as `historic` and dubbed it the `second foundation stone` of the relationship between New Delhi and Dhaka.

"This has been perhaps the most historic visit after the 1974 meeting and it is absolutely logical that a problem that could not be sorted out between 1974 and 2015 has been finally resolved. This is laying the second foundation stone of the India-Bangladesh relationship and on this foundation stone, there will be structures built which will be without fault lines," BJP spokesperson MJ Akbar told ANI here.

"The key takeaway is the level of cooperation in the economic engagement between the two nations," he added.Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sheikh Hasina exchanged instruments of ratification of the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) settling the 41-year-old land boundary dispute on Saturday. The two Prime Ministers also flagged off two transboundary buses linking Guwahati to Dhaka via Shillong and Kolkata to Tripura via Dhaka.
