REVEALED: Only two persons from BJP decided to send Subramanian Swamy to Rajya Sabha - Who are they?

New Delhi: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday took oath as a member of Rajya Sabha.

The decision to nominate Subramanian Swamy to Rajya Sabha was taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah, that too without any input from any other BJP leader, according to a report in The Indian Express.

The report claims that the selection was based entirely on merit.

Also, it is learnt that this time Subramaniam Swamy had the backing of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Moreover, it was taken into consideration that Swamy worked really hard in the National Herald case.

Reportedly, in the 2014 Lok Sabha election, Swamy was dropped as a choice for the New Delhi seat.

Olympics medal-winning boxer Mary Kom, former MP and cricket commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu, journalist Swapan Dasgupta, Malayalam actor Suresh Gopi and economist Narendra Jadhav have also been nominated by the Prime Minister's Office for the Rajya Sabha membership.

There are 12 seats of nominated members in the Rajya Sabha of which seven are vacant at present.
