Senior Congress leader Sajjan Kumar has moved an anticipatory bail application in a 1984 anti-Sikh riot case, sources said on Monday.

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Sajjan Kumar has moved an anticipatory bail application in a 1984 anti-Sikh riot case, sources said on Monday.

The bail will be heard by a sessions judge on Tuesday.

Sajjan Kumar has been accused of instigating a mob for killing two Sikhs -- Sohan Singh and his son Avtar Singh -- in Janakpuri area here on November 1, 1984.

The case was opened by the Special Investigation Team recently.

Advocate H.S. Phoolka, who is representing the victim, has said that he will oppose the bail tooth and nail.

"Phoolka, who had 11 meetings scheduled in the villages of his constituency in Punjab for tomorrow (Tuesday), has cancelled all his meetings and is rushing to Delhi to oppose the bail," a statement said.
