Statement of one political group not binding on other: Rijiju

Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Thursday said that the rehabilitation issue of Kashmiri Pandits is a process under consultation, adding that the statement of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed with regards to the matter was not binding on the BJP.

New Delhi: Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on Thursday said that the rehabilitation issue of Kashmiri Pandits is a process under consultation, adding that the statement of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed with regards to the matter was not binding on the BJP.

"There is a state government there, which is a combination of PDP and BJP. It needs lots of consultation. If any political group makes a statement, it is not binding on the others. But there is a consultation process. I would not like to make a comment on the rehabilitation process as of now. There is a plan in place in the Home Ministry, but it will be in consultation with the state government," Rijiju told the media.

Rijiju's remarks came after Mufti said that he will take all the stake holders in confidence before accepting Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's request of creating separate zones for Kashmiri Pandits in the state.

Mufti 's latest statement came after he had earlier on Tuesday assured Rajnath Singh that his government has accepted the demand for creating separate zones for Kashmiri Pandits in the state.
