Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at a meeting of party leaders, asked some blunt questions to BJP MPs from Uttar Pradesh, most of which was received with silence, a media report said quoting sources.
As per a report in NDTV, PM Modi said to party leaders that for just two minutes he would speak as the BJP lawmaker from Varanasi.
Then he asked as how many BJP's 71 Lok Sabha MPs from UP had a list of villages in their constituencies where electricity had reached under his government's Deendayal Jyotigram scheme.
Not one raised their hand.
The report further says that then the PM asked as to how many had downloaded a mobile app launched by the Prime Minister's Office last year on their phones. The app is said to provides comprehensive information on the government's achievements and initiatives.
It also gives day to day updates from the PM.
Again there was silence.
On the other hand, an Indian Express report quoted sources as saying that the with no hands going up, the PM was left disappointed.
He then is said to have told them about the importance of keeping track of implementation of the scheme.
PM Modi also emphasised the need to publicise government’s initiatives for the poor.
The Daily said that BJP chief Amit Shah was present at the meeting.
He asked the party MPs to intensively campaign on the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana which provides free LPG connection to women from BPL households.
The meeting supposedly happened on Monday and had been called to discuss preparations for elections in UP next year.
