BJP election committee to discuss candidates for Jharkhand, J&K Assembly polls

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to discuss list of candidates on Sunday for the upcoming Assembly elections in Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to discuss list of candidates on Sunday for the upcoming Assembly elections in Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir.

The Assembly elections in the poll-bound states will be held in five phases between November 25 and December 20.

Counting of votes for both the states will take place on December 23.

J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has decided to not contest from the family bastion of Ganderbal and is instead fighting from Sonawar in Srinagar and Beerwah in Budgam district.

The prevent any disturbance along the Indo-Pak border, the state government has moved around 125 polling stations to safer places.

Over 10 lakh voters are registered for exercising right of franchise to choose their representative to 11 seats of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly at 1,225 polling stations in Jammu district.

Meanwhile, Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) parted ways ahead of the upcoming elections in Jharkhand where polling will be held for 81 seats.
